Uganda to Host Africa Business and Investment Forum 2025: A Coffee-Driven Vision for Continental Transformation

Uganda hosted the Africa Business and Investment Forum 2025 yesterday May 23rd at the Africa Coffee Park in Rwashamaire, Ntungamo District, marking a bold push to drive value addition, industrialisation, and innovation across the continent.

Organized by Inspire Africa Group (IAG) in partnership with the Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, the forum was part of the larger Africa Coffee Value Addition Project aiming to grow Uganda’s coffee revenue from \$1.2 billion to \$5 billion in five years.

The ambitious goal includes $4 billion from coffee value addition and $1 billion from coffee tourism. The initiative supports Uganda’s Fourth National Development Plan (NDP IV) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, targeting increased production, job creation, and integrating 39% of Ugandans currently outside the money economy.

The forum, themed *“Innovation, Industrialisation and Value Addition for Africa’s Renaissance,”* was supported by President Yoweri Museveni and Kenya’s President William Ruto. The keynote address was delivered by Dr. James Mwangi, CEO of Equity Group Holdings, while Prof. Augustus Nuwagaba, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Uganda, discussed central bank roles in financing innovation and industrial growth.

IAG, founded in 2016, has built the largest coffee processing hub in Eastern and Central Africa in Ntungamo, using advanced freeze-dry technology to produce instant coffee, energy drinks, and coffee-based cosmetics. The 150-acre Africa Coffee Park will also feature a 4,000-seater sports complex, a 1,000-seater convention center, a business centre, an IT park focused on Africa’s AI future, an exhibition hall, and a Coffee Academy—positioning Uganda as a leader in coffee innovation and pan-African industrial growth.
