Jose Chameleone leaves for the States to get specialised treatment
Renowned Ugandan artist Dr. Jose Chameleone departed for the United States yesterday, December 23rd, to seek advanced medical care. The “Katupakase” singer was finally released from Nakasero Hospital after an 11-day stay.
Chameleone, who was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis, attracted significant attention during his hospitalization. Numerous public figures, including fellow musicians, pastors, and politicians, came to visit him. Among those who came to see him was Youth State Minister Hon. Balaam Barugahara, who announced that President Museveni had arranged for the singer to be flown overseas for treatment, which indeed took place.
Among those present to bid him farewell were Bebe Cool, Pallaso, his parents, and socialite Juliet Zawedde who accompanied him to the USA after cutting off her Christmas holiday short, among others. Chameleone will be treated at Allina Health Mercy Hospital. He is also planning to take a three-month leave to ensure a full recovery.
As a result, the singer will not participate in the festive season shows, where he has been a regular performer. It remains to be seen if his family, including his estranged wife Daniella, will visit him in the hospital since they reside in the US.
