Minister Peter Ogwang honoured to lead IOC president to State House

The State Minister for Sport Hon. Peter Ogwang has said it was an honour for him to lead Mr. Thomas Bach, the President of International Olympic Committee (IOC) to meet with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Mr. Thomas Bach presented a prestigious medal to the President.

“It was a distinguished honour to lead Mr. Thomas Bach, the President of International Olympic Committee (IOC) for a meeting with President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni at State House where he presented to him the most prestigious medal to the Heads of State,” Hon. Peter Ogwang shared on X.

The IOC president was in Uganda for a two day official visit. Hon. Peter thanked him for supporting sports in Africa.

Airtel Uganda Pays UGX 50.3 billion Dividend to National Social Security Fund (NSSF)

Kampala : Airtel Uganda, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, on Friday presented a dividend cheque of UGX 50.3 billion to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). This significant payout follows NSSF’s strategic acquisition of shares in Airtel Uganda during the company’s initial public offering (IPO). This payout follows Airtel’s 2023 decision to list in Uganda, becoming the second telecom company on the Uganda Securities Exchange. The company offered 8 billion ordinary shares representing 20% of its equity at UGX 100 per share. While the IPO raised UGX 211.4 billion, below the UGX 800 billion target, it attracted 4,614 new shareholders and marked a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to local ownership and capital market development.
