Disaster Minister Lillian Aber, Red Cross discuss first aid services & Disaster management

The new Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Relief and Refugees Hon. Aber Lillian has today held a useful meeting with Uganda Red Cross Society (URCS) Management team.

Hon. Lillian discussed how to strengthen the auxiliary role with URCS which includes first aid services and disaster management.

“Held an insightful meeting with the Secretary General, Uganda Red Cross Society Senior Management Team this afternoon.The meeting was aimed at discussing how we can strengthen the auxiliary role with URCS which includes but not limited to first aid services, disaster management,” Hon. Lillian tweeted after the meeting.

In related development, Hon.Lillian Aber said the 21st Comprehensive Refugee Response Forum(CRRF) meeting held on Thursday last week at Protea Hotel signified the commitment from government and her partners towards hosting Refugees in Uganda. ⁦⁦

Airtel Uganda Pays UGX 50.3 billion Dividend to National Social Security Fund (NSSF)

Kampala : Airtel Uganda, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, on Friday presented a dividend cheque of UGX 50.3 billion to the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). This significant payout follows NSSF’s strategic acquisition of shares in Airtel Uganda during the company’s initial public offering (IPO). This payout follows Airtel’s 2023 decision to list in Uganda, becoming the second telecom company on the Uganda Securities Exchange. The company offered 8 billion ordinary shares representing 20% of its equity at UGX 100 per share. While the IPO raised UGX 211.4 billion, below the UGX 800 billion target, it attracted 4,614 new shareholders and marked a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to local ownership and capital market development.
