Court orders Diplomat Bamwine to refund investor after fraudulent land sale
Flamboyant Quillino Bamwine, the honorary counsel to Swaziland in Uganda has lost an appeal to stop paying an investor UGX 270 million after selling the said investor land that doesn’t exist.
Court ordered Bamwine to pay the investor in February this year. He appealed and lost.
Bamwine took money from a prominent investor by promising to sell him land, which later turned to be hot air.
The diplomat was sued following failure to actually honor the terms of his own Undertaking to settle the debt when the deal collapsed.

This adds to a long list of VIPs whose names are tainted with scandals and one now waits to watch whether Swaziland, currently represented by the impugned diplomatic, a country known for unparalleled good governance in public affairs will entertain continued public scandals for its diplomat.
Since he lost the case in the courts of law, cunning Bamwine has since been appealing in a bid to delay justice.
In a recent ruling at the High Court Civil Division, Her Worship Hatanga Juliet Harty delivered a scathing judgment that has sent shockwaves through the legal and diplomatic communities.
In a humiliating verdict, Bamwine Quillino, holding the esteemed position of consul to Swaziland, was branded as a fraudster.

Her Worship Harty unreservedly ordered Mr. Quillino to pay a staggering sum of 270 million currency units as restitution to a prominent investor.
This substantial payout serves as a stark reminder of Mr. Quillino’s disgraceful actions, having shamefully obtained the funds through deceitful means. Adding to his ignominy, he was further mandated to shoulder the burdensome weight of covering all associated legal costs. This public condemnation and financial penalty serve as a powerful statement against deceptive practices, tarnishing Mr. Quillino’s reputation.
The president of Uganda has for long warned government officials and delegates on using their offices and powers to frustrate potential investors who he thinks a very big solution to the unemployment problem that is affecting this country.
The investor now wants court to force Bamwine to refund his money other than trying to buy time attempting to appeal which he has done before and failed.
Bamwine joins a long list of high profile officials who claim to be connected to State House who involve themselves in botched deals.
Court documents which our sources managed to have a glimpse at clearly show how Bamwine was compelled to pay but continues to make unsuccessful attempts to appeal.
