Ms Sheila Sabune has been appointed Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) Corporate Relations Director, with effect from 1st May 2024. She has over two decades of expertise in Operations Management, vast experience in Commercial Execution and Project Management, and a strong background in Trade Law, Policy, Risk, and Compliance. Before joining UBL, Sheila held key strategic roles on the executive committee of Prudential Uganda, as Chief Commercial Officer, Head of Legal, Governance, Compliance and Risk, and most recently, as the Chief Operations Officer. £7.4m funding from UK will make malaria drugs and tests accessible for countries around the world Over 50 million people will have access to the life-saving drugs and tests by 2027 UK-Indian developed vaccines being rolled out to Sierra Leone, Liberia and Benin The UK Government will improve access to malaria drugs to help tackle one of the biggest killers of children in sub-Saharan Africa, it has been announced today (25 April). More than 600,000 people worldwide die every year from malaria, which is preventable and treatable. The £7.4 million support for MedAccess will be used to negotiate lower prices for vital malaria drugs and diagnostic tests for people in countries affected by the disease. The funding brings total UK support to MedAccess to £17.4 million, which will help one million people access new diagnostic tests and 120 million patients to receive anti-malarial treatments. The date for the annual Kagulu Rock Climbing Challenge has been set. The challenge is set to take place on 17th August 2024 in Buyende District. There will be lots of activities including cultural exhibitions, health camp, Miss Busoga Tourism finale and entertainment. The 2023 report shows significant achievements in family planning across the globe, even in the face of stagnant funding. Speaking during the launch of the 2023 annual measurement report in Washington DC, FP2030 Executive Director, Dr. Samukeliso Dube, said: “In this report, you will hear more success stories: more people than ever before are using voluntary, rights-based contraception.
